Most jobs have a job description or a list duties and responsibilities. A job description rarely tells us anything more than what the person is to do in the job; it leaves out how s/he is to do it and when it must be done.
“If this job could talk, what would its behaviors be?” This is a question many hiring managers would like to describe for candidates, and to ensure they get the right person in the role. By taking DISC, managers can know the behavior style of the potential hire. This is valuable information for improving communication and gaining general insights about the person’s fit for the role. But the Work Environment assessment takes managers one more step toward truly aligning the role with the candidate.
The Work Environment identifies all the human factors that are absent in job descriptions. It is the mirror of DISC, allowing managers to analyze not only what behavior the person brings to the job, but the behavior required to be successful in that job. For the candidate, knowing both one’s own style and what’s required by the job helps the person decide whether or not s/he is willing to pay the price for success.
